BEAR
Breed: Akita
Personality: Bear was 100 lbs of pure sweetness - to his family. He was a protector for us and a hunter of cats. When Bear was given to us, we were told that he did not like the previous owners "little" dog. I worried about Darla and how Bear would treat her...but he was kind to her and just wanted to play. Bear was a BIG dog with a BIG personallity...size suited him. When Spanky came along Spanky was only a couple of pounds but he could boss Bear around. Spanky would jump up and bite him on the neck and Bear would retreat. Bear had a great demeanor, he had been through obediance and protection school...our girls and grandchildren use to love to play shoot him with their gun finger and watch Bear fall to the ground and roll over on his back. When we first brought Bear home, we told our youngest daughter about the news in town of a pack of wild dogs that were loose...when we got home we sent her out to do something in the backyard and she saw Bear! Still...to this day I have never seen her run that fast again! I know, I know...we ARE mean!! One day I came home from work and Bear was in the backyard sick, we rushed him to the same Veterinarian that Spanky used and Bear died the next morning...recently I have been wondering....had I taken him somewhere else, would he have lived?

Darla
Breed: Maltese/Lahso Apso
Personality: Darla has been in our family longer than any other pet. We have had her since 1994, making her 17 years old. We are so use to her being here it is just habit to have and see her. Darla has a loving personality, she never had a liter of puppies but I know that she would have been a great mother. Darla hates rain and thunder always trying to get up high off the ground during storms. I came in one afternoon from work and Darla was on top of the kitchen cabinet. At Easter we would color Darla with food coloring - one time she might be solid pink and another year she could have a pink body, green feet, purple tail, and green head. Each year painting Darla went right along with painting the Easter eggs. She always looked so cute. The past few years Darla has lost her vision and hearing but she seems to get around good. We always kennel them at night and over the last few months Darla just cries when we put her in the kennel - so I have to leave her outside. She has a bed and house on the back covered porch and is in the bed every morning...I guess that is where she wants to be. I love Darla but now I think that she wants to be alone. We have many memories with Darla and are going to miss her when we do not have her anymore.
UPDATE: Darla our sweet angel was so sick her last few days, we had her put to sleep on Tuesday June 07, 2011. Makes me sad but she had a long wonderful life and she is and will always be loved! Kisses Darla.......

CHICHI
ChiChi
Breed: Chihuahua
Personality: ChiChi...what a great little dog. We have a sign hanging on our fence in the backyard that describes ChiChi."ChiChi can not hold her licker"and it fits her perfect. She gives more kisses than any other pet that we have had. ChiChi came to live with us when our daughter, Carissa, needed a place for ChiChi to stay for a while. Now Carissa can not have her back!! She has brought so much joy to us and you could never be loved by a more precious baby. My husband, Benny has adopted her as "his" and it suits her just fine, she loves laying on the couch next to him. ChiChi only likes family members and does not like children....I think they scare her. BUT once ChiChi gets to know someone, on her terms, then you will have a friend for life! We have fun with ChiChi handing her off to people because she screams like a little baby...it is so funny...oh...but dont' to it around Benny, it is not too funny to him!! He babies her.....but how can you help but baby her? When you have her in your lap ChiChi will lay her head over on you and look at you like you are the KING of the universe. I am so happy that she is a member of our family.

Jericho
Breed: Chihuahua
Personality: Jericho should be named Mr.Personality. No lie...he smiles when we let him inside and he runs back and forth on the back of the couch kissing everybody...what a little doll. Jerichos' eyes have permanent eyeliner and all he has to do is look at you and you will fall in love. How did we end up with this little man?...well like ChiChi...Jericho was our daughter, Malissas'She and her exboyfriend found Jericho on the internet and they drove almost 10 hours to pick him up, close to Lubbock. Jericho has a problem with biting his nails and I guess he gets that after his "momma", Malissa. Jericho is always standing at our cedar fence looking through a gap when we pull up in the driveway every afternoon...I am not sure if he can tell time or if he just stands there all day waiting on us.When we first got Jericho, I ordered pizza...when the pizza arrived Jericho busted out of the front door but I guess since he smelled the pizza he decided to hang around. The pizza delivery man and I were in the front yard chasing Jericho and he was doing a figure 8 around us...still to this day we do not let him out without a leash. Jericho is a great little dog.

Ella
Breed: Chihuahua
Personality: We have a sign in the back yard that describes her perfectly "NOT the REAL Cinderella". We are the lucky ones because we have her. A coworker of my husband gave her to us. Jo, her previous owner, struggled with giving Ella away. Ella was hurt by a long time companion that Jo had for years. After Ella's recovery Jo was affraid that Ella might end up in the same situation and the next time she might not be so lucky with the outcome. My husband called me one day and ask if I wanted her - I don't even know why he ask - "YES"...I wanted her! Ella looks so much like Jericho by their markings, but not even close to the same personality. Ella - even though she is a girl - is the alfa fe"male" in my pack. I had to take her to the veterinarian a couple of weeks ago and when we went into the waiting room Ella growled and barked at everyone and every dog in the room. I bet every pet in the room out weighed her by 20 pounds. I had to stand in the corner facing the wall and use a magazine to block her vision. I laugh about it now but actually it wasn't too funny when it was happening. Another thing about Ella is she doesn't like loud noices, she runs and hides and I STILL can't figure out where she hides at. One day Benny was mowing the yard and the gates were open and I "thought" I had the babies inside but I couldn't find Ella. "FEAR came over me and I paniced. I walked and ran all over the neighbor hood. When Benny saw me he stopped mowing and started helping me look for her. We looked everywhere in the house. I even had my sweet neighbor looking for me outside. Benny saw that I was starting to "over react" (good words for it) and he said to calm down we will go look for her. I will not go into detail but we looked everywhere. Giving up and crying I thought I will NEVER have her back - and thought GOD I can't take this. We went back home. Walked inside and there she was - on the couch. Now I don't worry about her if I can not find her - I know that the lawn mower makes her do crazy things. We love Ella and I am so glad that she has made our house her "fur"ever home.....thank you Jo!

THEODORE
Breed: Pomeranian
Now we have Theodore. The sweetest Pomeranian in the world. Again I received Theodore when my daughter could not continue to keep him in her apartment. He is the sweetest bundle of joy and fluff ball that you could ever meet. Theodore and I are very close. We have been through training classes together. He is very smart he and has acquired his Canine Good Citizen Award. Sit, speak, stay, down and all the basic commands came easy to him. He is a fast learner and he loves to please. His big dark eyes are so friendly and he always greets everyone while standing on his back legs and waving his front paws together. I have become so attached to him.....I always say "WHEN will I get to pick my OWN dog out?". I say that - but - I would not trade him for anything in the world. He makes me smile every morning and every day that I get home from work. In the morning before I leave for work, I let all the dogs out of their kennels - they all know the schedule.....out of the kennel and head to the back door to go outside. Theodore is always bouncing and running as if this day is going to be the BEST day EVER. He will run forward then run back to me, he will bounce and wave his paws as if he is saying "Good Morning Nannie", he will slip on the tile floor and fall over - never fails always the same and I always laugh out loud at the little goof ball of fur. No matter my mood, I can pick him up and hug him and he makes me smile. I want to get a basket for Theodore and have it hooked on to my motorcycle (Rosie). Then my husband, Theodore and I can hit the road. We will travel and I can watch Theodore make the world smile.
